The tyre is the element that is mounted on the wheels and allows the vehicle to adhere on the road. The tyres are divided into several categories: those fitted with an inner tube (in English tube) and those without them (tubeless).

The tyre consists of different parts that can be summarized in:

  • Tread 
  • Belt pack or belts
  • Tyre or shoulder side
  • Body or canvas

In European countries, tyre manufacturers and importers are actively engaged in recovering an amount of tyres equivalent to the one they placed on the market the previous year. It is estimated that of the approximately 400,000 tons of unusable tyres that are generated annually in Italy, 50% is used as fuel, 25% is ground and reused as raw material for a series of applications and 25% is dispersed illegally.

WHAT IS OBTAINED FROM THE TREATMENT OF TIRES THROUGH THE PYROLYSIS PLANT?

Assuming that the plant disposes of exhausted tires already treated in the trituration plant, for 1.000 kg/h, we will have:

ELECTRICAL ENERGY PRODUCTION


The charcoal produced by the treatment of tires is called black smoke and is a valuable material for paint factories, or for companies that rebuild tires, so it will not be used in the plant but sold separately. The production of syngas and biodiesel is used to maintain the plant and generate electricity through bifuel motors connected to alternators. The total hourly production of electricity is 1 MW for a total annual of 8,500 MW.

THERMAL ENERGY PRODUCTION


The working cycle yields a thermal energy production 1,3Kcal / hour for every Kwe; 1000 Kwe yield 1300 KWt at 8000 hours per year, which means an annual output of 10400MMt.
